I am so excited to introduce everyone to Andie Psaras. She will be leading our first Speaker Showcase at the Bubble & Biz Networking Social on Sunday, February 21st in Naples with an important and interesting topic on clean beauty. (Wondering what clean beauty is? the RSVP HERE to join the discussion and connect with some fabulous local women while sipping mimosas in a beautiful and casual atmosphere!) Andie is passionate about nontoxic beauty care and one by one she is leading a movement to a future where all beauty is clean beauty. Clean beauty is something I got very familiar with last year, when I discovered my mascara was creating huge eye problems. So I am thrilled to have a local lady bring awareness and voice to this important topic!
Interview with Andie Psaras, a resource for learning all about clean beauty
Tell me about your business and why you started it:
After traveling internationally 50 weeks a year for 15 years, representing the largest privately held company in the world, I burned out! Started my own wholesale Greek cookie brand – Having had zero food service experience, it was a huge learning curve. I made many mistakes – but learned very much
I sold the brand a few years ago. Retirement was not for me! Along the way, I was asked questions about how to start a business, what to do, who to call, etc…. I had a consulting service to help women owned businesses start their brands – and then the Beautycounter opportunity fell into my lap…I had used the products, found they followed my own sensibilities regarding smarter, cleaner and safer products and eventually jumped in!
What motivates you to keep growing your business?
I LOVE people! I love the products! Regardless of this particular business, I enjoy connecting people to one another. I have done that throughout my life. Meeting folks, thinking about new opportunities is so much fun.
How do you keep a positive outlook even when challenges arise in your life?
I wake up positive. Some days are not great – but there is always something to look at that is a positive or source of joy. It is okay to take a day off and go outside or read something to recharge and refocus
How many hours a week do you dedicate to your business?
As anyone who has an interest in any business, it is something that you live, breathe, sleep and think about constantly. New ideas pop up, a better way to do something arises….at any time. I have never worked a 40 hour week!
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
I think our achievements are sometime better judged by others in the marketplace – if I had to list something – I think it would be creating deals/transactions while wearing my atty hat that were very rewarding, creating a brand that filled a niche in the marketplace – and now, sharing the importance of being smart and knowing what it is we are putting on our skin with others, is really very rewarding and quite a lot of fun
What are your future goals for your business?
For Beautycounter to become the brand everyone thinks of when they think of a safe, clean and smart brand of skincare!
What advice do you have for other women wanting to start their own business?
DO IT! be smart, ask questions, don’t compare yourself to others – believe in what you love and what you know.
