We would like you to meet, Maxine Gomez with Dry Tech 24/7, Inc.

Tell us about your business and how you became the successful business woman you are today.

At the age of 35, I found myself starting from zero and realizing I was the only one that could change my own direction.  A friend of mine was a public adjuster and told me there was an opportunity in the restoration industry.  I didn’t know much about construction, but he said, “It’s not that hard. Show up on time, if it is wet you need to dry it, if it is moldy you have to tear it out and bill a fair price.”  I thought to myself, “I can at least figure that out.”  Within 24 hours, I started my own small, emerging, Hispanic woman-owned damage restoration company, Dry Tech 24/7, Inc.  I had experience in customer service and hospitality and applied that customer service experience to construction.  The work itself I was able to catch on to quickly, but I had limited business experience. I joined an entrepreneur group, read books, and asked a lot of questions.  Today I am a state-licensed instructor in the industry and we are now known as the restoration and sanitization experts!  One of my keys to success has always been to surround myself with people that know more than me.

I am a woman in a male-dominated field, but I learned how to use this to my benefit.  On every project, I add a woman’s touch to a dirty industry; thereby, giving my customers the best service.  In the beginning, I was working 60+ hours a week and am now working less than 50, but when you love what you do you don’t count the hours.  You work when you can and play when you can.  Both are important.  Every day I choose to keep a positive outlook, you decide, every day.

What is your favorite product that you sell and why?

The Clorox Total 360 System and the chemistries it is paired with are my favorite products.  It is an electrostatic sprayer that disinfects and sanitizes 99.999% of surfaces and reduces VOC’s in the air.  It is a commercial grade product approved for use in hospitals, offices, homes, boats, and planes.

What special deal could you offer to your Pompano Beach Housewives in the City friends?

We can provide the sanitization service with the Total 360 system. Mention Pompano Beach Housewives in the City, and they will get 5% off the service. Or if they would like your own plus training, we could offer you the new ProPack (currently $2500) for 5% off for mentioning Pompano Beach Housewives in the City.

Describe yourself in three words:

Resourceful, Adventurous, and Passionate

What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?

I would consider creating jobs during a global pandemic to keep others safer, healthier and more CDC compliant as my greatest professional achievement.

What are your professional goals for the next six months?

Over the next six months, my goal is to scale our Career Path and Training Program to create jobs all over the country with the proper licensing, education, and insurance.

What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?

I love what I do!  Business development and entrepreneurship with purpose and passion is the only role I see myself in.  If I could fast forward and be in a place to start something new I’d want to be a philanthropist on Shark Tank.  Or a lounge singer, but unfortunately I can’t sing.

How do you maintain a work/life balance?

Yoga, tequila, and surrounding myself with close friends and family!  It is all about balance for me.

What websites do you visit every day?

Our bank accounts, our CRM system, and Swipes.com

What are your top three favorite people/places/things to do in your city?

Park & Ocean and S3 are my favorite places to eat and grab a drink with friends.  If I am not there I am freediving in the ocean or dancing at Round Up.  On Sunday’s my guilty pleasure is getting a cromelet at Nanou bakery or strolling on the Riverwalk.  Fort Lauderdale is my favorite city!

Do you have any advice for women who’d like to start their own company?

Look to the trailblazer before you and do it better.  You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, you just have to turn it in your direction.

Any final advice?

Do not forget that enriching yourself will bring value to the business as well as to yourself. Your job doesn’t have to be 9-5. It is important not to forget to do the things you love outside of work. Connecting to your passion, purpose, and your WHY will be what what lights your soul on fire.
