Hello! I’m Andrea — a mom, blogger, and social media junkie living just outside of Washington, DC. When I’m not running after my two kids,, you can find me mingling at events around Northern Virginia and supporting local businesses. I also run a public relations + social media consulting firm, Khoury PR and Media Group, where I work with businesses to get the most out of their social media and digital marketing platforms.
I am known to host events celebrating my blog, tastings at restaurants, fashionable summer block parties, networking at fancy hotels, and of course, philanthropic events to give back to the community. I also share tales of local getaways, entertainment within 100 miles or less, and delicious recipes. You can always come to hang out with me and the Northern Virginia Housewives community at one of our monthly meet-ups each month!
One of my FAVORITE things about this blog is connecting and networking with fabulous women in Northern Virginia and sharing the profiles of women in business through the Leading Ladies series on this blog. Since I’m always asking others to answer these questions… I think it’s time I share about myself! Here goes nothin’!
Describe yourself in three words:
Extrovert, sassy, hard-working
What do you consider your greatest professional achievement?
Launching Housewives in the City + starting my own company, Khoury Public Relations and Media Group. I enjoy connecting consumers with digital marketing campaigns and a brand’s social media presence online. Social media is something that I grew up with and it comes naturally to me – I’m lucky to be doing what I love!
What are your professional goals for the next six months?
Expand Housewives in the City to 20 new cities by the end of the year. Do you have what it takes to join our team?
How does your company stay connected through social media?
I am constantly active on social media. Update, update, update! You can follow me on Facebook, give me a heart on Instagram, or follow me on my Twitter account.
What profession other than yours would you like to attempt?
I would love to be a wedding planner — minus the bridezillas.
How do you maintain a work/life balance?
In my job, there is no such thing as a work/life balance as I’m “always on” 24/7 – but I do get to be with family for a lot of my adventures. I have a supportive family who helps me every step of the way…. so much so that I even hired my mom to do a lot of the behind the scenes work. If you ever see me say “email firstname.lastname@example.org for more info…” well, that’s her!
What websites do you visit every day?
Facebook, news sites, and sometimes People.com
What is your favorite drink – and where can you find it in Northern Virginia?
Key Lime Martini at The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner, the TITANIC at Trummer’s on Main in Clifton, and the Diablo Margarita at Not Your Average Joes.
What are your top 3 favorite people/places/things in Northern Virginia?
Tie between Burke Lake Park and Frying Pan Farm Park: anything that makes my son happy makes me happy!
My neighbors: Wine nights on the deck, camping trips, cooking lessons, poker tournaments, bonfires on Friday nights – they are the best.
Fairfax Corner: We love the restaurants, small businesses, and the fountain in the summer 🙂 and, that’s where the Khoury PR offices are located!
What is your goal for retirement?
To retire before 60 and travel.
Do you have any advice for women who would like to start their own company?
1. Find a mentor who knows what you’re up against. It is so great to have someone that is just willing to listen to what you are going through – and it helps if they’ve already been in that situation themselves.
2. Know the value of your time – I can’t repeat this enough. It took me a long time to realize the cost of my time commitment to others.
3. And… don’t forget to dream BIG. Opportunities are endless. Life is good!
